University physics
The physics courses open in Kerfox so far.
Each course is a run of short lessons, one idea to a lesson, built around a diagram and the equation that goes with it. The equations are typeset in full rather than described, and each course follows the order its topic is taught in, from the first principle to what it leads to.
Each page below lists a course’s lessons part by part, prints one lesson whole, and ends on a question with its answer and a note on every wrong option.
The courses
Lasers and Quanta
Light and matter, the laser, fibres, quantum optics.
Revise a university course in lasers and quantum light: Einstein’s A and B coefficients, population inversion and gain, polarizers and Malus’ law, optical fibres and single photons.
Motion and Relativity
Newton to Einstein, in one course.
Revise university mechanics and special relativity: Newton’s laws, energy and momentum, rotation, gravitation and oscillation, then time dilation, the spacetime interval and mass as energy.
Energy and Matter
Kinetic theory, the four laws, entropy, phases.
Revise university thermal physics: kinetic theory and the ideal gas, the Boltzmann factor, transport, the laws of thermodynamics, entropy, the thermodynamic potentials and phase changes.
Also in the app, with pages still to come: Electricity and Magnetism; and Waves, Light and Quanta.
